1610-1614: Louis XIII’s reign.
1630: The Day of the Dupes- the Day in which the Cardinal was restored to Royal favour.
1643-1715: Louis XIV’s reign.
1664: The party of the Delights of the Enchanted Island- first grand party to be held in Versailles.
1682: Versailles is established capital of the French kingdom.
1697: The Duke of Burgundy (Louis XIV's son) marries Marie-Adélaïde of Savoy. Their only surviving child following a measles epidemic was the future Louis XV.
1715: Louis XIV dies.
1715-1774: Louis XV’s reign.
1722: The Royal Court returns to Versailles.
1745: The Yew Ball occurs, initiating Louis XV’s affair with Madame Pompadour.
1757: Assassination attempt on Louis XV.
1756: France and Austria are allied by the political engagement of the future Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette.
1774: Louis XV dies.
1778-1783: Louis XVI recognises the United States of America is a nation and aids the nation in gaining independence.
1783: The first hot air balloon flight takes place at Versailles.
1784-1785: The Affair of the Diamond Necklace- The Cardinal attempted to give Marie Antoinette a diamond necklace, but another woman posing as the Queen takes it for herself!
1789: The beginning of the French Revolution.
June 1789: The Jeu De Paume oath was written, where deputies swore to never separate until France was given a constitution.
October 1789: The departure of Louis XVI. Versailles is no longer a Royal commune.
1804: Napoleon attempts to restore Versailles to its former power.
1871: The German Empire is proclaimed within the Hall of Mirrors, in an invaded France.
1875: The Third Republic is established following the fall of the Second Empire.
1919: The treaty of Versailles is signed, formally ending the First World War.
